Sharia on Saturday--Blasphemy!

Recently a young man tweeted….and now Saudi Arabia wants him dead for the crime of blasphemy.  How can Saudi Arabia claim a law that they stole from pagans?  Maybe they should rename their country, Silly Arabia, land of man gods.

An Arab proverb says: “Kill me, but do not mock my faith.”
I’d have to ask, and which faith would that be?

The truth is, the Quran does not say to kill anyone for blasphemy.  In fact, the Quran only uses the word a dozen times or so and not once does it say for anyone to kill a blasphemer.  That is left up to God.

3:55 Behold! God said: "O Jesus! I will take thee and raise thee to Myself and clear thee (of the falsehoods) of those who blaspheme; I will make those who follow thee superior to those who reject faith, to the Day of Resurrection: Then shall ye all return unto me, and I will judge between you of the matters wherein ye dispute

5:68 Say: "O People of the Book! ye have no ground to stand upon unless ye stand fast by the Law, the Gospel, and all the revelation that has come to you from your Lord." It is the revelation that cometh to thee from thy Lord, that increaseth in most of them their obstinate rebellion and blasphemy. But sorrow thou not over (these) people without Faith

40:42  "Ye do call upon me to blaspheme against God, and to join with Him partners of whom I have no knowledge; and I call you to the Exalted in Power, Who forgives again and again
Yep, God deals with those who blaspheme, not humans, and certainly not humans pretending to be god.

And you won’t even find the words blasphemy or blaspheme in the Hadith. So if it’s not in the Quran or hadith, where did the blasphemy laws come from?

In Athens blasphemy was a crime.  Making fun of Ceres (a goddess of farmers, fertility and Moms) or Proserpine (another female goddess of springtime) could cause you a world of grief.
So they are following pagan laws!

‘In A.D. 538, the time of Justinian, the people are called upon to abstain from blasphemy, which provokes God to anger so they had to be killed.’
Or are they following ancient Byzantine laws?

‘Among the Franks, (A.D. 818), blasphemy was a capital offence and you would be killed.’
Do you think they are following these old laws?  We know they aren’t following the Quran.

Leviticus 24:10-16 10And the son of an Israelite woman, whose father was an Egyptian, went out among the children of Israel; and this son of the Israelite woman and a man of Israel strove together in the camp. And the Israelite woman's son blasphemed the name of the LORD and cursed. And they brought him unto Moses (his mother's name was Shelomith, the daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan); and they put him under guard, that the mind of the LORD might be shown them.  And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying, "Bring forth him that hath cursed outside the camp; and let all who heard him lay their hands upon his head, and let all the congregation stone him.  And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, `Whosoever curseth his God shall bear his sin. 16And he that blasphemeth the name of the LORD, he shall surely be put to death, and all the congregation shall certainly stone him. As well the stranger as he that is born in the land, when he blasphemeth the name of the LORD, shall be put to death.
Now isn’t that interesting?  The mullahs and clerics who demand death for those they claim have blasphemed are not following the Quran, they’re following the Torah.  They’re Jews!

Thomas Aquinas says that “it is clear that blasphemy, which is a sin committed directly against God, is graver than murder, which is a sin against one's neighbor.
So they’re Christians!

Isa. 52:5; "And now what do I have here?" declares the LORD. "For my people have been taken away for nothing, and those who rule them mock," declares the LORD. "And all day long my name is constantly blasphemed.
I kinda think that’s funny.

Btw, Jesus was also accused of blasphemy.

Rev. 13:1, Then I saw a beast rising up out of the sea. It had seven heads and ten horns, with ten crowns on its horns. And written on each head were names that blasphemed God. The beast was given a mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies and to exercise its authority for forty-two months opened its mouth to blaspheme God, and to slander his name and his dwelling place and those who live in heaven. Then the angel carried me away in the Spirit into a wilderness. There I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast that was covered with blasphemous names and had seven heads and ten horns.
Well, you knew there had to be a female in there with the blasphemers.

The persecution of pagans, Jews, Muslims and dissident Christians began in the early middle ages.  The Inquisition was one of the most powerful and scary institutions in Europe.  Victims were tortured for their confessions.
Are the king and his scholars imitating the Catholics?

‘In 1656, James Nayler, was found guilty for claiming equality with God. He was repeatedly set in the pillory and scourged; branded on the forehead with the letter ‘B’; had his tongue bored with a iron and was confined afterwards in prison and set to hard labour’
In England and in colonial America it was thought that a denial of Christianity could shake the foundation of society.
Or are they imitating the Protestants?  These are all considered to be People of the Book.

Salmaan Taseer was the Governor of Punjab, Pakistan.  He was killed in part because of his fight against the blasphemy laws.  This was a major blow to the Pakistan People’s Party who would like to move out of the dark ages and into the 21 century.  I hope they continue to fight their oppressors, freedom isn’t free but it’s worth the fight.  The west had to fight religious laws; too, it’s how the west was won.

And now we have Hamza Kashgari was a poet and a writer from Saudi Arabia.  On Muhammad’s birthday he tweeted a poem (sort of)

On your birthday, I will say that I have loved the rebel in you, that you've always been a source of inspiration to me, and that I do not like the halos of divinity around you. I shall not pray for you.

On your birthday, I find you wherever I turn. I will say that I have loved aspects of you, hated others, and could not understand many more.

On your birthday, I shall not bow to you. I shall not kiss your hand. Rather, I shall shake it as equals do, and smile at you as you smile at me. I shall speak to you as a friend, no more.
Muhammad would not have been mad at this at all as he knew he was just a messenger, that his only job was to deliver the message and if they believed the message, that was good, but if they didn’t believe the message, that was ok, too, and that he was no one’s father, and he knew he was not above any other messenger.  And he knew all that because it was part of the message he brought.  There is only one God and that God has no partners.  This king, his scholars and mullahs believe in a god who has partners.  They are God’s partners.

It was King Abdullah who ordered that Kashgari be arrested "for crossing red lines and denigrating religious beliefs in God and His Prophet."
Blasphemy!  He might have the authority to make up laws for his people, but he does not have the right to make up laws for God.

‘Kashgari described his intentions in terms of human rights: "I view my actions as part of a process toward freedom. I was demanding my right to practice the most basic human rights—freedom of expression and thought—so nothing was done in vain. I believe I'm just a scapegoat for a larger conflict. There are a lot of people like me in Saudi Arabia who are fighting for their rights."
And they have to start by challenging religious laws that were invented for pagans and the People of the Book.

How can the final message be the same as the message for pagans?

Kashgari described the status of women's rights in Saudi Arabia by stating that Saudi women "won't go to hell 'because it's impossible to go there twice”
Brilliant remark!  So many pagan laws that need to be dumped.

Muhammad Afiq Muhammad Noor is his lawyer, and with a name like Muhammad, he had better know his Quran because that is his best defence.  I wish I could be there to assist him.

On the bright side, several contemporary Muslim scholars, including influential Islamic reformers, are speaking out in rejection of the blasphemy law, arguing for religious freedom.
This is their jihad.  They are compelled to fight oppression, even if it’s against their own brothers, so says the Quran.

The king cannot say that this blasphemy law is Islamic because it is not.  The king will need to admit that this law is from the People of the Book…and the dreaded pagans.
They way I see it; it is the King who has committed blasphemy.  But that doesn’t mean he should be killed, it does mean that he is not a good Muslim.

Afghanistan, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia still have the death penalty for blasphemy.  If 3rd world countries want to become 1st world countries, they’re going to have to knock this shit off.

And here’s the kicker.  You would think the King of Saudi Arabia would be bragging that his religion is the only religion that doesn’t demand death for blasphemy.  That should be a good thing!  The Quran is also the only God book that doesn’t demand death for apostasy.  Nor does it allow the stoning of adulterers or the killing of unbelievers.  So where is his pride?  Why does the King of Saudi Arabia insist on following the religious laws of the People of the Book and pagans?...and go unchallenged?  Is he ashamed of his religion?  I think he is.  Yes, he wears pretty dresses but what does that have to do with his religion?  Nothing.  He is lying to his people and he rules as an oppressor, by his own law he should kill himself.
And I find it odd and wrong that he follows every religion except his own.

I have so much fruit to make…..

Sharia on Saturday--Dogs

The Sharia law on dogs says that dogs are unclean.  That's what the majority of Saudi trained scholars say.  The fact that cats lick their asses and bring home the heads of dead mice doesn’t bother the scholars a bit.  In fact, according to some scholars, bird poop is clean.  That should have you questioning this Sharia law on dogs.

Dogs have been the loyal friend of humans for over 30 thousand years.  You could say they were the first entrepreneurs.  They exchanged their services for food.  I’m sure their wolf friends thought they were lazy, but these dogs had a job.  They protected the camp from predators and were a great help in hunting game and herding.  And when they had puppies, the children would hug them and cozy up to sleep with them.  And as they grew, they played and formed a strong bond.  And that’s how it’s been for thousands of years.  The song 3 dog night was a reference to being so cold you needed 3 dogs to keep you warm.  Dogs became our companions.

Hieroglyphs on the pyramid show dogs as prized possessions.   In fact, pictures of dogs can be found in the art work of many ancient cultures, including the Romans and Greeks.  Dogs are cool.

Unless you were Moses, he was the first to battle for the ideology of one God.  Egyptians had a few dogs that were worshipped, like Anubis.  He was a dog (or jackal) who was associated with the cult of the dead.   Not many people worship Anubis anymore.  These days most people believe in one God so the dog god lost its bad reputation.  Ever hear of a ‘Bark Mitzvah’?  It’s a Jewish celebration of the spiritual connection between dogs and their owners.

The Bible has some interesting references to dogs.

Revelation 22:15 Outside are the dogs and sorcerers and the sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood..’
Today that would be seen as funny unless you lived in Saudi Arabia.  They still take this stuff seriously

Matthew 15:26   And he answered, “It is not right to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs.”
that’s true.

Luke 16:19-31  “There was a rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and who feasted sumptuously every day. And at his gate was laid a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, who desired to be fed with what fell from the rich man's table. Moreover, even the dogs came and licked his sores. The poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham's side. The rich man also died and was buried, and in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side. ...Licking the wounds can accelerate healing.  Dogs lick their own wounds to help heal.

So why do some Muslims have an issue with dogs?  According to the Quran, Allah is cool with dogs.

This is from a story about people who did not believe in one God, even after being given the message; they lied as the story goes….

7:173  or lest you say, "Verily, it was but our forefathers who, in times gone by, began to ascribe divinity to other beings beside God; and we were but their late offspring: wilt Thou, then, destroy us for the doings of those inventors of falsehoods?"
Some pagans were a real pain back in the day, but even they weren’t to be killed by humans.

7:176 Now had We so willed, We could indeed have exalted him by means of those messages: but he always clung to the earth and followed but his own desires. Thus, his parable is that of an excited dog: if thou approach him threateningly, he will pant with his tongue lolling; and if thou leave him alone, he will pant with his tongue lolling. Such is the parable of those who are bent on giving the lie to Our messages. Tell them, then, this story, so that they might take thought
I have to say, attack my dogs and you’ll be a hurting human.  But the message is;
7:178
He whom God guides, he alone is truly guided; whereas those whom He lets go astray-it is they, they who are the losers!

And this is a story about a group of ancient fellas who converted to the belief of one God.  That pissed off the pagans who then wanted to stone them, and God intervened.  They found a cave and…

18:18 And thou wouldst have thought that they were awake, whereas they lay asleep. And We caused them to turn over repeatedly, now to the right, now to the left; and their dog lay on the threshold, its forepaws outstretched. Hadst thou come upon them unprepared, thou wouldst surely have turned away from them in flight, and wouldst surely have been filled with awe of themAnd the dog protected them while they slept.  No one knows how long they slept, but the dog stayed with them.

18:22 And in times to come some will say, They were three, the fourth of them being their dog," while others will say, "Five, with their dog as the sixth of them" -idly guessing at something of which they can have no knowledge -and so on, until some will say, "They were seven, the eighth of them being their dog’ Say: "My Sustainer knows best how many they were. None but a few have any real knowledge of them. Hence, do not argue about them otherwise than by way of an obvious argument, and do not ask any of those story-tellers (as in Hadith) to enlighten thee about them."

The dog is very important to the story, it proves that dogs were an important part of God’s creation.  A guard dog is also companion, if you sleep in a cave, the dog sleeps with you.  The same would be true if you live in a house.  Even a small dog will alert your family against intruders.  And studies have shown that bad guys do not like entering a house with a dog.  I know the Hadith says Angels won’t enter a house with a dog, but I look at that as a message to walk your dog every day.  And Angels won’t hurt you, bad guys will.

Consider this, the dog is mentioned by name 3 times in the Quran.  Muhammad is mentioned 5 times by name.  Jesus is named at least 25 times.  Just putting things into perspective.

So what happened?  How can the Quran be cool with dogs while some Muslims see them as unclean, scary critters?  3 words; The Saudi scholars.  Instead of following the Quran they follow Hadith and they made Abu Bakr, Abu Huraira and the Buky Bukhari, prophets.  Whatever they forbid, the scholars forbid.  If Abu Bakr was afraid of dogs, everyone should be afraid of dogs.  If Abu Huraira preferred cats, everyone should prefer cats.  And if Bukhari had an issue with dogs, everyone should have an issue with dogs.   That’s what happened.  No doubt there were rabid dogs and packs of dogs roaming the Arabian deserts, but there were also dogs kept as pets and used for hunting and as guard dogs.  And out of 500,000 or more Hadith, they’re only mentioned 30 odd times and not always in a bad way.

Narrated 'Aisha:
The things which annual prayer were mentioned before me and those were: a dog, a donkey and a woman. I said, "You have compared us (women) to donkeys and dogs.
That pissed her off. But that’s the kinda guys they were and she corrected them.

Narrated Abu Huraira
The Prophet said, "While a dog was going round a well and was about to die of thirst, an Israeli prostitute saw it and took off her shoe and watered it. So Allah forgave her because of that good deed.
Yes, God loves dogs and Israeli prostitutes.  And being kind to dogs is important.

Narrated Ibn Abbas
Abu Talha, a companion and one of those who fought at Badr together with Allah's Apostle told me that Allah's Apostle said. "Angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog or a picture" He meant the images of creatures that have souls.
Oh, is that what he meant?
For the record, only Arab angels who follow Hadith are afraid of dogs.  But even back then most people thought that dogs had a soul.

Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Umar
Allah's Apostle said, "If someone keeps a dog neither for guarding livestock, nor for hunting, his good deeds will decrease (in reward) by two Qirats a day.'
A qirat is a recitation…or a mountain, depending on who you ask..but don’t ask Umar, he’s getting fed.

This Sharia law is very easy to challenge and it should be challenged.

6:150 Say: "bring forward your witnesses to prove that God did forbid so and so." If they bring such witnesses, be not thou amongst them: Nor follow thou the vain desires of such as treat our signs as falsehoods, and such as believe not in the Hereafter: for they hold others as equal with their Guardian-Lord
If God didn’t forbid dogs as pets, a bearded man in a dress can’t either.

8:39 And fight against them until there is no more oppression and all worship is devoted to God alone. And if they desist-behold, God sees all that they do.
And that’s the word.

The following are the Sharia laws that I have covered so far

Sharia on Saturday-no buidling can be taller than a mosque

The Blue Mosque
One of the Sharia laws states that no building can be higher than the height of a mosque.  This law is not in the Quran or the Hadith, so it had to have been made up.

I don’t believe any mosque is higher than the pyramids and Egypt is a Muslim country.  That tells me that this law isn’t really a law, just something a crazy Sunni Arab came up with.

But there is some reason to believe that this Sharia law is copied from other religions.  There was a time in Europe when the steeple of a Catholic church was the highest and tallest structure of the land.  The church was a source of news and information; all religious buildings served that purpose.  Technology changed all that.

The Vatican
Just as there was a time when the Vulgate could only be read in Latin, the Torah only in Hebrew and the Quran only in Arabic, now you can google them in your own language and see what these books really say.  I do believe that the original intent of all these books was personal guidance and you can find exactly what you’re looking for in all of these books.  You can find your own wisdom.  And you don’t have to wait for the speaker to get to the part that will help you the most, you can get right to it yourself.  This might explain why so many consider themselves to be spiritual rather than religious.

The Mormon Temple
But there will always be some who seek the social aspect of community prayer and receive great comfort in knowing they are not alone with their life’s struggles.  Seeking knowledge and wisdom from others might be the lazy way out, but that’s probably over shadowed by the feeling of belonging to a community where everyone believes the same as you.

And some of these religious buildings truly are spectacular and inspiring and can leave you in awe of the love of God.  The mere beauty of these buildings shows that even on an artistic level, all religions see the beauty and the mysticism of their belief.  It’s the rituals that screw people up.  Who is a believer, who is a gentile, who can you trust.  That’s where the divisions lay.  To believe what the speaker says is not always the best advice as they could be seeking a different answer or, they could be speaking from their personal life experience, which may be different than yours.  If you seeking knowledge from a higher source go to that higher source and ask for yourself.  But if you’re seeking a generic message of goodness and charity and the unity of oneness with others, there is nothing wrong with that, or with admiring the beauty of a stunning building.
